The Main Street Window – #2

10th April 2016

I walk in and order my reliable earl gray with honey in a mug, and turn to find a place, and yet there are no seats to be found. I stand until a table opens up, next to my favorite spot. I sit and wait until my favorite space is open. It’s particularly busy at the café today.

  • 13:06 – It’s amazing how many ways you can arrange an EQ with specific songs…for many songs, if you have certain channels too high, it will sound wrong, but in songs that feature piano,

for example, since there is such a range of tones being used, raising the decibel level just accentuates a certain octave on the piano.

  • 13:20 – A very little girl just got out of a car, and it seems that she dressed herself; she’s wearing toy swimming flippers as shoes. Amazing.
  • 13:22 – I just realized that I’m doing that ‘thing’ where you put iTunes on shuffle and then skip to all your favorite songs…
  • 13:25 – What happened to April? What is this still-in-the-30s crap. A young woman just walked by wearing a pantsuit with chopsticks in her hair, looking like she’s attending a professional conference and I couldn’t tell if she was peering into the café or checking out her appearance in the window. You go girl.
  • 13:36 – I have to download file transfer software just to move music from my android phone onto my Macbook? Seriously? WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY.
  • 13:41 – No wonder why I have no space on my phone, how much music do I have on this thing?
  • 15:00 – You know you’re in New England when you can’t tell if it’s warm or hot out by how people dress. I’ve seen an even amount of people with and without jackets, but it’s very windy and probably cold. I’m confused.
  • 15:03 – 88 steps per minute must be a common pace to walk at…so many people are walking in step with this specific song…
  • 15:20 – Banana bread with chocolate chips isn’t nearly as good as pumpkin bread. My tea is cold.
  • 15:20 – I’m fascinated by the fact that I can see the individual shingles on the roofs of buildings. New glasses are truly incredible.
  • 15:23 – My biggest piece of advice for someone who thinks they want to go into music technology but can’t afford fancy software is to just open up the equalizer in iTunes and fiddle around with it. Isolating individual channels show you what kinds of instruments will likely be found in each one, and I just think it’s amazing.
    • Comment your favorite song, and when I have time, I can try and make an EQ for it!

  • 15:27 – There is a tree across the street that looks like something off of a fairy-tale evil witches’ yard. I keep noticing it as if it hasn’t always been there.
  • 15:38 – I just realized there is an Edgar Allen Poe quote on my mug today; “There is no beauty without strangeness”. I quite agree, sir.
  • 15:43 – I love when the song I wanted to hear comes on shuffle…after pressing the skip button only a few times…
  • 15:49 – I wonder how many lost email addresses I have out there. My dad must have made me three while I was a kid because I kept forgetting the passwords. I also have seven various ones that I currently check, though I only effectively use three of them. I wonder how many lost email addresses exist in general.
  • 16:03 – Most of what I tweet on a daily basis is at or about Gerard Way, and I’m glad I still have (while typing this) 160 followers. He’s an inspiring person.
  • 17:08 – It’s so nice to see so much activity outside after how frigid this winter was. It was isolating.

Comment your favorite song, and I’ll try to make an EQ for it – it’ll be good practice for me!

Jay suggested I make an EQ for Buzzin’ Fly by Tim Buckley, and this is what I liked:

  1. Paige, I have a challenge for you…the song is “Buzzin’ Fly” by Tim Buckley (Jeff Buckley’s father).

    1. I made one for it! I can’t comment the image, so I’ll add it to the end of this post for you.
